Replacing air filter

Replacing an engine air filter with another Mazda or OEM filter is very easy. First locate the black air box under the hood:
Open the air box by releasing clips and remove the old air filter.
In many occasions there is an oily sediment on the filter cause for which is not yet determined (an updated info on this will be posted here as soon as it becomes available):
Replace the air filter with a new one and close the box. It shouldn't take more than several minutes to do but don't neglect checking and replacing the air filter. Spare your engine.
Many owners switched to K&N OEM filter for the MPV and reported better highway fuel economy and slight power improvement. You might want to consider using this filter as well. Check K&N Engineering web site for the air filter specifically designed for Mazda MPV (Part No. 33-2177)
